Announcing the Launch of Swindon Village Primary School's Redesigned Website!

Published on 03 Sep, 2024

We are delighted to share that we have completed the redesign and development of the Swindon Village Primary School website! Our goal was to create a modern, intuitive, and mobile-responsive platform that reflects the school's commitment to educational excellence and community engagement.

Key features of the new website include:

  •  Responsive Design: A mobile-friendly interface that provides a seamless user experience across all devices.
  • Governor Document Management: A secure login area for governors to upload and manage important documents.
  • Integrated Social Media Feeds: A dynamic Facebook feed to keep the school community updated on the latest news and events.
We've worked diligently to ensure the website is easy to navigate, visually appealing, and fully equipped to meet the needs of the school’s staff, students, parents, and the wider community.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Swindon Village Primary School team for their collaboration and support throughout this project. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this new website will have on their community.

How we developed Swindon village school’s website: a behind-the-scenes look

At Varistha, we pride ourselves on delivering websites that go beyond mere digital presence. When Swindon Village Primary School approached us with the vision of creating a fresh, engaging, and functional website, we knew it was more than just a project- it was an opportunity to connect a community and provide a vital digital resource for students, parents and staff.

Understanding the vision

The first step in our development process was to truly understand the school’s needs. Swindon Village Primary School needed something that was:

Easy to navigate: This would allow anyone to find information effortlessly

Showcase school activities: a gallery and news section to highlight events and accomplishments.

Be highly functional: with features such as a parents area, noticeboard and Facebook integrated onto the website to allow people to see their timeline with pictures of their children and what they are doing.

Responsive on devices: this would allow anyone to access their website via any means of technology.

Comply with regulations: including safeguarding guidelines and ensuring accessibility for all.

Designing with the user in mind:

We began the designing phase by putting ourselves in the shoes of the parents, staff, and students who would be using the site. User experience was at the heart of this process. Our design team worked on creating a layout that was:

Intuitive: a simple, clean menu structure so users can easily navigate between key areas such as term dates, curriculum pages and newsletters.

Visually appealing: using the school’s brand colours and child-friendly images to keep the design profession yet approachable.

Optimised for content: we worked closely with the school to organise their existing content, ensuring it was presented in a way that was both informative and engaging.

Testing and Launch:

After designing and building the core components, we entered the testing phse. This involved:

User testing: we invited staff members and a few parents to test the website’s functionality and provide feedback.

Browser compatibility testing: ensuring the website works smoothly on different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc)

Load testing: we simulated high-traffic scenarios to ensure the site performs efficiently even during peak usage times.

Once testing was complete, we launched the new Swindon village school website. We provided the school’s staff with a demonstration and support on updating and maintaining the site content, ensuring they feel confident in managing their online presence.

 A continued partnership:

Although the website is live and our job is done, our relationship with Swindon village primary school is ongoing. We continue to provide support and updates, ensuring the site remains functional and secure over time. This ongoing partnership ensures the website evolves with the school’s needs, adapting to any new requirements that may arise.
